As a follow-up to a recent community discussion about the reservation policy for ballfields at Paducah’s parks, the Paducah Parks & Recreation Department has updated its reservation and first come system effective immediately.
Parks & Recreation Department Director Amie Clark said, “Paducah’s parks are assets to this community. We strive to be customer-friendly while providing equitable access to our various facilities. I’m grateful for the recent discussion about ballfield reservations. This gave the Department an opportunity to evaluate a policy that was put in place during COVID due to the need to contact trace and reduce gatherings. Our new policy will allow the public greater access to facilities while also providing a reservation system.”
Mayor George Bray said, “Engaging with the public and gathering feedback are of critical importance in making sure that the City is providing services that meet our citizen’s needs. I am thankful for our citizens stepping up and providing input. The city park system is paid for by taxpayer dollars and designed to provide maximum utilization by our citizens and their guests. I am always open to receiving feedback, and this is a perfect example of a good outcome from feedback.”
The following facilities are available on a first come basis; however, this applies only when a reservation is not in place. The reservation system, which is very important for teams who want guaranteed access for a specific period of time, includes a fee.
- Ballfields at Noble Park and Stuart Nelson Park
- Basketball courts at Noble Park
- Tennis courts at Noble Park
- Pavilions and shelters
Reservations can be made by contacting Parks & Recreation during office hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., or by visiting the online registration portal. Reservation requests for using a facility on either a Saturday or Sunday require a 48-hour notice.
Additional changes that are beneficial to citizens include the following:
- Reservation calendars will be posted at each field reflecting reservations made for that day.
- Informational kiosks with program information and facility reservation calendars for the ballfields at Noble Park and Stuart Nelson Park have been ordered and are expected to be delivered and installed this summer.
- Additional fees will no longer be required for the use of field lights.
- Signage will be posted in the event of facility closures due to wet conditions.
There are several facilities that always require a reservation for use including Wilson Stage on the riverfront, Farmers’ Market Pavilion, Noble Park Amphitheatre, Anna Baumer Building, and Arts & Crafts Building. Also, for special events and gatherings that require power boxes and/or water connections, a reservation must be in place which will incur additional fees.
