Date of release: March 19, 2020
Due to the guidance to employ social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Paducah Parks & Recreation Department is temporarily restricting access until further notice to specific features located at the City’s parks. Plus, the parks will be closing daily at sunset.
Amenities that have gate enclosures including the Paducah Dog Park, Skatepark, and the Noble Park tennis and basketball courts will be closed to the public. Parks features that do not have fencing including playgrounds will have caution tape and signage to inform the public that access is restricted.
Parks & Recreation Director Mark Thompson states, “We are not closing the parks in Paducah and are encouraging passive enjoyment of the outdoors and the green spaces at our parks while implementing social distancing standards. However, in an effort to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, we are restricting access to those features such as playgrounds that encourage social gathering and may have numerous contact points.”
As a reminder, the Parks & Recreation building located at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive and the Recreation Center located at 1527 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive are closed to the public. Call the Parks office at 270-444-8508 for more information.
