This week, a contractor working for the City of Paducah will be laying out and reinstalling approximately 1000 engraved bricks in historic downtown Paducah. These bricks, which were originally installed in the sidewalk on the east side of North Second Street, were removed during the project to rehabilitate the parking area in the center of the block bounded by Broadway, Water Street, Jefferson Street, and North 2nd Street. They have been stored on pallets at the Public Works Department since their removal.
The engraved bricks include Commemorative Bricks, Lover’s Lane Bricks, and bricks to honor veterans. They are being reinstalled in the brick sidewalks on North Second Street and Broadway near the gazebo. Crews are also working on the west side of North Second Street between Broadway and Jefferson to relocate bricks that have been impacted by tree roots.
To complete this work, there may be closures to short sections of the sidewalk. The work is expected to be completed in a few days depending upon the weather.
