Navigating the Online Permitting System  - A Training Workshop for Contractors, Electrical, Building, and Mechanical Professionals on August 28

The City of Paducah Fire Prevention Division is offering a free training workshop for local contractors and electrical, building, and mechanical professionals to learn how to submit permits and plans through the City’s online portal. The Navigating the Online Permitting System Workshop will be Thursday, August 28 at the Robert Cherry Civic Center located at 2701 Park Avenue.

Enjoy coffee, donuts, and networking at 7:30 a.m. with the training presentation at 8 a.m. led by Chief Building Inspector Les Fugate. The presentation should last less than one hour with plenty of time for one-on-one assistance following the presentation. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops and specific questions. There will be city staff present to assist in setting up accounts and submitting permits and plans.

“The relationship between contracting and building professionals and the City staff who issue permits and review plans is critically important to economic development,” said Mayor George Bray. “We have worked diligently with the Fire Prevention Division to solicit and listen to feedback from our local contractors. We have implemented changes and improvements to make the permitting and plan review process more efficient and effective, and we continue to make improvements. This training workshop is a result of listening to input and acting upon it. We all have the same goal of seeing Paducah grow and flourish, and commercial and residential developers are the key to our success.”

“In my role as Deputy Chief, I value meeting with our local contractors and building professionals to gather feedback on all aspects of the services provided by the Fire Prevention Division,” said Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention Greg Cherry. “For the past eight months, I have reached out to various contractors to gather input. One of the primary pieces of feedback was to make our online portal system more user-friendly, which we have been doing, and to provide face-to-face instruction. The Navigating the Online Permitting System Workshop is being held at the request of our local contractors. I look forward to further connecting them and helping them be as successful and efficient as possible.”

For those who plan to attend, please email Battalion Chief April Tinsman by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26. Please provide the number of attendees.
