You’re invited to attend a tree planting event at Kolb Park (1650 South 6th Street) at noon on Friday, October 27. Six trees (3 oak varieties and 3 bald cypress) will be planted near the playground. This is a joint project among the Urban Forest Initiative, Southside Neighborhoods Initiative, the Tree Advisory Board, and the City’s Planning and Parks & Recreation Departments.
We already have plenty of volunteers. Feel free to stop by to watch the planting and enjoy the new trees! Two of the trees were paid for by the Urban Forest Initiative which is based out of the University of Kentucky with the Planning Department purchasing the other 4 trees.
The Urban Forest Initiative, which has a mission of planting trees across Kentucky, initiated this event.
